Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Fees

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is a Governmental office which is designed to uphold information rights. The organisation specifically deals with any personal data which is held by others or organisations under the Data Protection Act.

By law, organisations must take due care and security to hold or use personal identifiable information. If an organisation holds any information on their customers, clients or individuals (either on paper or in an electronic format), they are required to register with the ICO each year.

The fees vary depending on the size of your business, and these are provided on the ICO website.

As a consultant, you will need to be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

This charge can be claimed as an expense – without it, your business legally cannot operate.
